Terms of Service
Effective date: 5th January 2026
These terms govern your use of the CyberTechSecure website (cybertechsecure.co.uk) and any free pre-assessment call you book through it. By booking a call, you accept these terms.
Who we are
CyberTechSecure is a trading name of Mark Caplan, a sole trader registered in England and Wales. You can contact us at info@cybertechsecure.co.uk.
The free pre-assessment call
We offer a free 30-minute pre-assessment call to discuss your current IT setup and your suitability for the UK government's Cyber Essentials certification scheme.
- The call is 30 minutes in length. If we run over, we may need to end the call or reschedule the remainder.
- The call is informational only. It does not constitute a contract for certification services, and we make no guarantee that you will be certified following the call.
- The call is provided at no charge. You are not obliged to proceed with any paid service as a result of booking it.
- We may, at our discretion, decline to offer the call if we believe it would not be a good fit for either party. We will tell you honestly during or after the call if this is the case.
What we are not
CyberTechSecure is a consultancy and advisory service, not a certification body. The official Cyber Essentials certificate is issued by an IASME-accredited certification body. We work with one or more such bodies as our partners to deliver certification on your behalf.
This means:
- We do not directly issue the Cyber Essentials certificate. Our partner IASME-accredited body does.
- The scheme fee you pay (published by IASME and identical across all certification bodies) goes to our partner body.
- Our service fee, where applicable, covers the consulting work we do: gap analysis, remediation guidance, and submission support.
- Any dispute about the official certification decision, the certificate validity, or scheme compliance is a matter between you and the partner certification body, not us.
Service quotes
If, during or after the free call, we quote a fee for any paid service:
- The quote is valid for 30 days from the date we give it, unless we specify a different period in writing.
- The quote covers only the work described in our written proposal. Additional work will be quoted separately.
- We may revise a quote if the scope changes materially after further discovery (for example, if your IT environment turns out to be substantially different from what you described).
Cancellations and rescheduling
- If you need to reschedule the free call, please use the Calendly link in your confirmation email to do so yourself.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the scheduled call time on more than two occasions, we reserve the right to decline future free calls.
- Once paid services have begun, our cancellation and refund terms will be set out in your service agreement.
Your obligations
When booking a call or using our service, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information about your business and IT setup
- Use our service only for legitimate business purposes
- Not attempt to access, interfere with, or damage any part of our website or systems
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who provides materially false information or misuses our systems.

- We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our service.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the free call or any unpaid service is limited to £100.
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
- For paid services, liability terms will be set out in your service agreement and may differ from the above.
